FAQ

Frequently asked Questions:

How does my purchase enrich the people of Peru?

1. We pay fair prices locally, work directly with the manufacturers of our textiles or produce them ourselves - so we know exactly where our products come from and that the people we work with are happy with the prices and are treated fairly.

2. Our tailor is a family member who happily supports us and is happy to have more work. Our organic cotton is grown under the best conditions, which directly benefits the farmers, the earth and everyone involved in processing the material.

3. From every product we sell, we save 10% of the profit for social projects in Peru. At the moment, our main concern is to help the Shipibo-Conibo in Lima to improve their living conditions - that means having running water and electricity, and creating a better living & working environment, as the Shipibo community in Lima is currently suffering greatly from the poor conditions, which is why some of the works of art they create also wear out due to inappropriate storage and thus lose their value. We have actually also bought some of these products out of a willingness to help to support the artists - you can find them in our Etsy shop, we have not uploaded them here yet.

How do I wash my undyed organic cotton T-shirt?

1. Temperature: Wash with cold water (30°C or below) to prevent shrinkage and maintain fabric integrity.
2. Laundry detergent: Use a mild, environmentally friendly laundry detergent. Vinegar for softening: Add 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the detergent compartment as a natural fabric softener.
3. Drying: Hang to dry instead of using a tumble dryer to avoid shrinkage. Reshape garments while damp

How do I wash alpaca wool?

1. Machine wash: Alpaca wool can be machine washed on a gentle cycle with cold water and a mild detergent, but this is generally best for items like socks, not more delicate garments.
2. Pre-treatment of stains: For stubborn stains, soak in cold water for no more than 10-15 minutes. Longer exposure to water can damage the fiber.
3. Hand wash: Soak the garment briefly in water, then gently pull it through the water without rubbing vigorously. This gentle treatment is crucial to maintain the integrity of the fiber. 4. Dry: Do not wring alpaca wool items after washing. Instead, gently squeeze out excess water and dry flat away from direct heat and sunlight to avoid shrinkage or damage.
