Cotton Field ready for Harvest

Organic Cotton: What´s that?

Organic cotton fabric is a textile derived from cotton that is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment.

Conventional cotton farming is incredibly harmful to the environment. It's a major contributor to pollution globally, responsible for a whopping 16% of all insecticides and 6% of pesticides used worldwide.

Organic cotton cultivation avoids the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. It relies instead on natural methods like crop rotation, composting, and biological pest control. Moreover, the fact that our cotton is handpicked is a benefit, as it reduces the environmental impact and improves the quality of the product.

The process of making organic cotton fabric starts with selecting non-genetically modified seeds and cultivating them in soil free from synthetic chemicals. During growth, organic cotton plants are nurtured with natural fertilizers, ensuring minimal harm to the ecosystem. The organic standards do not allow the use of GMOS, and since Peru has a ban for GMO seeds, this reduces the risk of contamination that exists in other cotton producing countries.

Sustainability lies at the heart of organic cotton production. By eschewing harmful chemicals, organic farming practices promote soil health, water conservation, and biodiversity preservation. Furthermore, our partnership with our supplier, the first company in Latin America to be certified under Global Organic Textile Standard (G.O.T.S), from the field to the finished garment,  guarantees the traceability of the organic cotton that we use and fair treatment to every person involved in the production chain.

Organic cotton is primarily grown in regions with favorable climates for cotton cultivation, such as India, Turkey, China, and Peru. Peru, renowned for its high-quality cotton known worldwide as pyma, particularly excels in producing organic cotton of exceptional purity and softness.

Choosing organic cotton over conventional cotton offers numerous benefits. Not only does it reduce environmental pollution and conserve resources, but it also ensures healthier working conditions for farmers and produces textiles free from harmful residues, offering consumers peace of mind and comfort.

UNBLEACHED/UNDYED COTTON

It refers to cotton fabric that has not undergone any bleaching or dyeing processes. This means the cotton retains its natural color and texture, without the addition of any chemicals or artificial colors.
